Squeaky Dog Visits Dogtopia Harbor Steps

When I first opened Squeaky Dog Studios I wasn’t really sure what that would entail. I knew that I had big ideas for the studio and where I wanted to take it. I knew that I had a LONG list of breeds that I wanted to photograph too. When the opportunity arose to take Squeaky Dog on the road to visit the doggie day care Dogtopia at Harbor Steps, I couldn’t say no. We set a date and I went into their facility to tour and pick a space for the photo session. Overall, my set up isn’t too big but I do need space for the 7ft wide backdrop and lighting. A private room, smaller room is always ideal too.

At the end of April, I packed up my things and arrived to Dogtopia with my wagon and two colors that the manager of Dogtopia had selected - light blue (my most popular color) and purple. I set up in a daycare room not in use and began photographing pup! Jeff, the Pet Parent Relationship Manager, helped me stay organized all day by bringing dogs in and out. Throughout the day, I photographed 15 dogs of all sizes and breeds. Each dog presented their own unique challenges - some too distracted and excited, others nervous and needing some more time. Some pups had no issues and were happy to exchange tricks for treats.

I sent out the album just a few weeks ago to the owners that signed up for the event. Per the package that I had agreed upon with Dogtopia, dog parents got two photos from the day with the option to purchase more. I posted about 10 photos per dog!
