Cherry Blossom Sunrise Photoshoot with Monty

University of Washington, Seattle Cherry blossoms, Dog photoshoot

Last spring, I dragged my sleepy dog out of bed to University of Washington at 6:30am to capture the morning light. Not surprisingly, we were not the only Seattleites with the idea and found a few other people walking, biking, photographing the beautiful campus. We went on April 13th, which in 2021 was towards the end of the season so the pink and white petals sprinkled the ground. My dog, Monty, while more interested in watching the squirrels and birds, was a wonderful poser for me and helped me capture the golden morning light.

The trees were planted on campus in 1936 and have been an iconic staple of Seattle. They’re a must see if you’re visiting Seattle in the spring! However, if you’re unable to visit, have no fear. There is a live webcam over the quad so you can experience the beauty from afar - it can be found here.

Mt. Rainier towers over the campus and can be seen on a clear day right from campus!

I’m now scheduling cherry blossoms sessions around Seattle, including at the University of Washington and also at the Seattle Arboretum and Jefferson Park. 2022 sessions are booking up quickly so if you’re interested in booking a session, feel free to contact me at hello@margotmckelvie.com or complete a contact form just above!

It wouldn’t truly be a dog session unless I included some outtakes - including one of Monty looking at me with such distain.
