Discovery Park Engagement Session with Rasheed and Kelly

Rasheed reached out to me as a reference from a local friend in Seattle. He lives in Philly and Kelly lives in Seattle, finishing up med school. On a long trip out west, Rasheed planned to propose to Kelly and wanted to schedule a photo session after the proposal to celebrate the occasion! At the time, Kelly was 16 weeks pregnant so they wanted to use the photos as their announcement. I was so excited to meet the two of them and capture their special moments. If you’re local to Seattle, you know we’ve had an unpredictable, gross spring. The day of we expected rain and I texted Rasheed to make sure he’d be free the following day just in case we had to reschedule. Right before our session, it started raining. Weather predicted that the rain would stop quickly so I hopped in the car and headed to Discovery Park. In order to park at the lighthouse, in Discovery Park you need a permit. Two options are to either take an Uber from a closer parking lot or, what we ended up doing, is asking one of Rasheed and Kelly’s friend to drive us down and wait for us while we did the photo session. Just as we arrived, the clouds began to part and we had incredible lighting the whole session! It was a perfect evening, especially when a sailing race went by. I had so much fun photographing these two and absolutely love capturing golden hour!
